新設、英検準2級プラス　The newly created Eiken Pre. Level 2 Plus

今回、2025年度、20数年ぶりに新設級として「英検準2級プラス」が2級と準2級の間に作られましたので、全8段階の級が存在することになりました。

文部科学省認定の英語試験制度、通称英検は私が高校生の時の1963年4月にできた英語試験制度ですから、60年近い歴史があります。当時の英検の受検級の数は1級・2級・3級の3つだけでした。

私自身は40歳代にはこの英検の二次面接試験官委員（面接試験官）に登録していただき、65歳の定年までに、英語による英語の2次面接試験を約4000人の受検者に実施しました。

この英検が単なる試験制度だけでなく、外国語学習を通じて、多くの人との交流、高い学習意欲の醸成、幅広い話題への対応力などに寄与できればと願っています。

The newly created Eiken Pre. Level 2 Plus:

In 2025, for the first time in more than 20 years, Eiken Preparatory Level 2 Plus was newly created between Level 2 and Preparatory Level 2, bringing the total to eight levels.

The Eiken system, recognized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), has a history of nearly 60 years since it was established in April 1963, when I was a high school student. At that time, there were only three levels of Eiken: Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3.

When I was in my 40s, I was registered as an interview examiner for the Eiken test in English, and by the time I reached the retirement age of 65, I had given the second interview tests in English to about 4,000 examinees.

It is my hope that this Eiken will contribute not only to a mere testing system, but also to interaction with many people, fostering a high level of motivation to learn and the ability to deal with a wide range of topics through foreign language study.
