The photo shows a maple tree growing between the trunks of a sawtooth oak (acorn) tree near my house, which looks like a parasitic plant to me.
However, parasitic plants have the following definitions and seem to be limited in their types.
Definition: A plant is called a parasitic plant when it is able to absorb (intercept) nutrients earned by the host plant through photosynthesis, etc. by inserting its own roots into the trunk, branches, or roots of the host (parasite) plant.
Types: See photo
