医療通訳者　Medical Interpreters

先日のあるオンライン例会で横須賀米海軍病院に勤務する現役の医療通訳者の方から仕事内容をお聞きする機会がありました。

外国人患者、外国人医師、日本人医師、米海軍病院、日本の病院の間を、文化の違い、医療制度の違い、個人の理解度の違いなどを越えて、異言語、専門用語を駆使して相互理解に貢献されている姿、命に直結する非常に大切で大変な業務の一端を垣間見たようでした。

これは英語を切り口にして多くの異業種の方々にお集まりいただいているネットワークですが、これからも英語にも関連する多種で有益な情報をいただけるものと期待しています。

Medical Interpreters:

At one of our recent online meetings, we had the opportunity to hear about the work of an active medical interpreter working at the Yokosuka US Naval Hospital.

I personally could catch a glimpse of the extremely important and hard work that directly affects the lives among foreign patients, foreign doctors, Japanese doctors, the U.S. Naval Hospital, and Japanese hospitals, and how they contribute to mutual understanding by using different languages and technical medical terms to overcome cultural differences, differences in the medical system, and differences in individual understanding.

This network we had this online meeting this time has many people from different industries through the English language, and I expect that we will continue to receive a wide variety of useful information that has been related to English as well in the future.
