食品自給率　　Food self-sufficiency

かつて米生産は日本の経済及び文化でしたが他の食糧品とともに80％だった食品自給率は2006年には39％に大幅に下がっています。
日本のコメ生産の将来が先日11月16日（土）の英会話道場の討論のテーマでした。
現在、近隣市町村でも太陽光発電用に農地が次々と買収されている実態もメンバーから報告されました。

Rice growing used to be Japan's economy and culture, but the food self-sufficiency including rice has been down from 80 % to only 39 % in 2006, a big decrease.
The future of rice farming in Japan was discussed at Free English learning session on the other day on November 16th.
The fact that the nearby rice farming fields have been recently changed into the solar power generation sites one after another was also reported by the members.
Mr. Russell from New York prepared the learning material and emceed the meeting.
