建国記念日　National Foundation Day　

今年は日曜日になったので、私も3連休です。
今日、この建国記念日の朝、「家族たちのインパール」というNHKのドキュメンタリー番組を見ました。
私は戦争に関する番組を見るたびに、先の大戦のために27歳で戦死を余儀なくされた伯父のことを思い出します。
無謀なインパール作戦を決め、命令を下した軍指導部が非常に多くの日本人兵士を死に追いやったことに対する悪感情は消えません。
一方、困難を極めた現地で部下の兵士を救おうとしていた少将、隊長の勇気ある行動などはいつまでも忘れてはいけないと思います。
It falls on Sunday this year and I can enjoy 3 consecutive holidays.
I watched TV program titled “Imphal for the bereaved families” on NHK this morning of National Foundation Day.
I can’t watch war-related programs without remembering my uncle killed at the age of 27 due to the World War Second.
I can never erase bad feelings toward the Japanese leaders who had made and forced such a reckless operation that killed very many Japanese.
On the other hand, we must not forget the high-ranked military men who bravely tried to save the fellow Japanese soldiers in the most difficult situation.
