修理不能な故障？ Irremediable breakdown?

デジカメのオリンパスSZ-30MR（2011年型モデル）でズームエラーが生じ撮影できなくなりました。
メーカーに問い合わせたところ、メカニックな修理が必要な故障だが、補修部品在庫なしのため修理不能で、買い替えを勧められました。
そこで、これ以上壊れてもかまわないと思い、ズーム部分を荒っぽく何度かたたいたりひねったりしたら、なんと、直りました。内部の引っ掛かりがとれたのでしょう。
ソフトや電子回路の故障には素人は手が出ませんが、メカニックな故障には打つ手があることもがあるようです。

My digital camera, Olympus SZ-30MR (2011 model) has broken down showing “zoom error”.
The maker said it is needed to be mechanically fixed, but they have no repair parts anymore, recommending to buy a new one.
Then I tried beating and twisting it several times since further damage would be OK and surprisingly it has been back to normal. Something fishy must have been removed, I guess.
The problems of software or electric circuit are beyond my ability to fix, but there may be some solutions to the mechanic or analogue troubles.
