It is held 3 days later on November 9th (Sunday) all over Japan for the examinees who have passed the first-stage test last month on October 12. I am one of the examiners again this time though I
retired from employment at the age of 65 after serving for 25 years. It is because they have too many examinees for the current working examiners.
Nihon Eigo Kentei Kyokai, or the Eiken Foundation of Japan (http://www.eiken.or.jp/eiken/en/ formerly
the Society for Testing English Proficiency, Inc.), is a public-interest incorporated foundation established in 1963 and based in Tokyo, Japan.
Eiken produces and administers English-proficiency tests with the backing of the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) and in cooperation with Japanese
prefectural and local boards of education, public and private schools, and other leading testing bodies. Eiken-administered (primary) tests are taken by more than 2 million examinees annually at
18,000 locations all over Japan and the second-stage tests at about 400 locations in about 230 cities.
