強化タイヤ、化学はロマン(5)：
車のタイヤにはスチール、ナイロン、ポリエステルが物理的に積層して使われています（図）。私は勤務していた会社からある国立大学に派遣されていた2年間の間にナイロンをゴムの高分子に直接化学結合、重合させた全く新しい高分子の合成を試みたことがありました（写真）。物理的混合と化学的結合は似て非なるものです。

In the tires, steel, nylon, polyester wires are physically laminated as the figure shows. I once tried synthesizing the rubber chemically bonded with the polymerized nylon (picture) when I was dispatched to a national university for 2 years from the company I had been working for. The physical mixture and the chemical bond are more different than might first be surmised.
