着物の染色　Kimono dyeing

数日前に「尾道きもの日和」という展示会にお邪魔する機会がありました。

着物のデザインを中心とした展示会でしたが、染色方法、染色工程、染料、天然・化学助剤などの専門用語を使って出展者の方々と会話を楽しみ、気持ちは一気に40年ほど前の自分に戻ることができたようでした。
技術的には変化が大変激しく早い業界もありますが、何十年も変らない技術が有効に生きている分野もあります。（写真は展示品とは関係ありません。）
The other day, I had a chance to visit a Kimono (Japanese national costume) Exhibition in Onomichi, where I could enjoy talking with the exhibitors using the technical words in dyeing methods, processes. dyes and natural or chemical auxiliary agents though Kimono designs were centered in the exhibition. That made me as if I had been back to what I was about 40 years ago. Technically there are some industries with rapid and big changes, but others with less changed useful technologies.
