通訳の色々　Various kinds of interpreters

先日、司法通訳（法廷通訳）野で30年ほど活躍されている女性（現在、ある女子大学の学長さん）の話をお聴きしました。
司法通訳（法廷通訳人）は制度として身分保証がなく（資格制度が無い）、報酬も低く、難しさは会議通訳・医療通訳・技術通訳などの比ではない、とのことでした。
その難しさの理由は司法関係者（弁護士、検察、裁判所）の通訳業務への無理解、低協力姿勢の他に、法廷でのやりとりが専門用語以外に異国の言葉を単純に1：1で変換できるほどの低レベルでないことも大きな理由の一つです。
この問題は関係者の相互協力がなくては改善が難しいでしょう。
The other day, I listened to the lady with her 30 year-long history as a court interpreter, who has been now a president of a women’s college.
She said that the court interpreters are not tenured, not paid well and the work is much more difficult than conference interpretation or medical or technical ones.The reason for the difficulty is attributed to less understanding to the court interpretation work from the judicially related persons (lawyers, prosecutors and judges) as well as the fact that the foreign languages used in the court are not as simple as translated 1:1 besides the jargon. 
The mutual cooperation is absolutely necessary to cope with this problem.
